Our Story
Pioneering Beginnings
In 2000, four visionary women – Linda Williams, Barbara Mason, Maria “Doe” Ladd, and Janet Ritchey – came together with a shared mission: to address the rising dangers of substance use in their community. At a time when few were recognizing the severity of the issue—raising awareness, offering care, and helping people feel less alone. They provided support, resources, and hope to those in need, long before the crisis was widely acknowledged.
Evolving the Mission
Their grassroots efforts laid the foundation for Addiction Connections Resource (ACR), officially incorporated in 2001. Over the years, ACR has grown into a trusted source of support for individuals and families navigating substance use, continually adapting to meet the evolving needs of the community. The founders’ determination and foresight continue to guide ACR’s work, ensuring that individuals and families are met with care and connection.
Refining Our Focus
Today, we honor the incredible legacy of our founders by continuing to evolve. Building on their pioneering efforts, ACR is now focused on making support more accessible, more personal, and more sustainable. Our updated support approach is shaped by real-world experience and informed by science, offering care that meets people where they are—whether they’re reaching out for the first time, navigating change, or looking to stay well.
